Workshop 2: "How to Conduct a Successful Physical Inventory" 

Dates and Times:

Each workshop is 4 hours in length and runs from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. 

Cycle Counting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 17th, 2020 led by: APICS recognized Master Instructor   Jose Feliciano, CPIM CSCP  APICS Master Instructor

Physical Inventory will be on Thursday, Nov. 19th, 2020 led by APICS recognized Instructur Ellen Kane, CPIM

Note: These workshops will be completely on-line.

Workshops Overview:

These workshops get “back to basics” inside the stockroom by addressing the processes for conducting physical inventories and doing effective cycle counting. They will apply to any warehouse environment.

The Physical Inventory workshop will review the essential preparation, steps, and activities to perform in advance of this major event. From cleanup and sorting to working with auditors, the ins and outs of physical inventory will be covered.

The Cycle Count workshop will reinforce the true purpose of cycle counts. Participants can expect to learn methods to find and fix the causes of inventory errors. Cycle count review will start with selecting items to count, using correct accounting techniques, and reconciling outstanding transactions.

  • Physical Inventory topics:
    • Preparation for physical inventory
    • Defining criteria for control of inventory tags
    • Count discrepancy reconcile
    • Working with auditors
    • Completing and closing physical inventory
  • Cycle Count topics:
    • Purpose of cycle counts
    • ABC analysis
    • Cycle count reporting to management
    • Benefits/causes of cycle count

Who should attend:

  1. Individuals with experience in stockroom management, inventory management and control, conducting inventories, who want to learn new techniques and explore best practices to enhance their careers and improve their companies.
  2. Individuals who are looking to improve their professional skills and better understand inventory management control techniques.
  3. Managers who must understand and execute both techniques, or who are facing a critical decision changing their current method of inventory control.
