Essential Skills for Warehouse & Distribution Employees 

7 weeks, 21 hours through College of the Canyons  Monday, Oct 19  to Dec 7, 2020, 4-7pm - led by APICS recognized instructors.

Note: This class will be completely on-line.

Course Description 

This course focuses on the fundamental concepts of Warehouse and Distribution Management in non-manufacturing operations where products are sourced complete from manufacturers or other distributors, stocked as inventory, and distributed to customers or other warehouses through supply chain distribution channels.   Major topics covered in this course are:  Inventory Planning and Control, Warehouse Management, Logistics, and Transportation, and Distribution Planning.

Audience

This course is ideal for both new and experienced warehouse employees (Stock Clerks, Shipping and Receiving Clerks, Material Handlers, Inventory Planners Transportation Specialists, and other warehouse associates who want to hone their job skills and gain practical knowledge in the field of Warehouse & Distribution Management. 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.  However it is strongly recommended that students have a basic knowledge or some experience in warehouse operations.

Learning Goals and Results

Students will learn the basic terms, concepts, and best practices used by Warehouse and Distribution Management professionals that can immediately be applied in performing their current job and/or used to prepare for a next level job opportunity.  The terminology and concepts learned in this course will also aid students in preparing for APICS Certification exams for Production & Inventory Management (CPIM), Supply Chain Management (CSCP) or Logistics, Transportation & Distribution (CLTD).
