APICS is about education and certification. The San Fernando Valley Chapter seeks to cultivate this principle by providing engaging and action-promoting Seminars to the community.  Several times a year, new topics of interest are planned for our members and non-members.

If there is a topic of interest that is not represented on the upcoming calendar, please feel free to pursue this topic with your local chapter.  SFV APICS is happy to look into any ideas for an available date or can even coordinate specific events with a minimum number of students from your site.

Tuesday April 4th, 2017  "Physical Inventory Workshop" and "Cycle Count Workshop"

These courses get back to basics inside the stockroom. Addressing the processes for conducting physical inventories and cycle counts, the workshops will review the essential preparation, steps, and activities to perform in advance of these events. From cleanup and sorting to working with auditors, the ins and outs of physical inventory will be covered. Also reinforcing the true purpose of cycle counts, participants can expect to learn methods to find and fix the causes of inventory errors. Come to one or come to both at a reduced price.

Friday April 7th, 2017   "Value Stream Mapping Seminar"

This seminar on Value Stream Mapping will walk participants through the details of VSM while demonstrating tools and techniques for both observing the current state, as well as designing and implementing the future state. VSM is a powerful tool for identifying and eliminating waste within a process. We will be using an interactive approach to transmit a deep understanding of VSM and how to use it to its full capacity. The seminar will utilize and enhance attendees’ skills in facilitation and leadership. Participants will gain understanding of how to lead a VSM event and will be provided with an electronic template for documenting VSM in the future. Additional topics include the 8 wastes, flow, and visioning. This seminar will provide valuable information to both the novice and those lean practitioners experienced with VSM.
